Kidney Cancer Awareness

Kidney cancer, is not contagious. In our country Philippines, Many people needs kidney transplant. And kidneys has been sold here for $2,200. But the demand is still high.

But what exactly causes kidney cancer? Now, Kidney is one of the most hard working organs in our body because it filters potential poisonous substances from blood. There’s a great volume of blood that is filtered by kidneys in a matter of 4 to 5 minutes. They are as about the same size of a fist.

Symptoms of Kidney cancer:

Fever
Blood in the urine
hormonal changes
back pain and side pain

If the cancer is already in the advantage stages:

a lump or mass in the affected area/ abdomen
weight loss
easily get tired
easily get infections and anemia

The main cause of kidney is not yet clear, although one possible cause can be relate to pain-control drug phenacetin. And the risk are higher if they are cigarette smokers, overweight, Medical health conditions such as high blood pressure.

If Kidney cancer has been diagnosed and treated early, it has 50 % survival rate 10 years after the treatment. Survival rate is lower if the cancer has spread already in lymph nodes and renal vein.

Treatment are usually through removal of the whole kidney and the tissues that surrounds it, ureter and the major portion of renal vein. Radiation therapy are used to destroy cancer sells thare left. Radiation are done before the operation.

Salt causing High Blood pressure

High blood pressure? Reduce your salt intake.Based on research studies by the American Heart Association’s 62 annual fall Conference of the Council for High Blood Pressure Research in Atlanta.

People who have ‘uncontrolled’ high blood pressure, even though they are taking different types of medicines to lower their blood pressure, Can now actually lower it more by making some little changes in their lives and that’s to avoid salt intake. Or just reduce their salt in their daily diet.

” A high-salt diet contributes importantly to treatment-resistant hypertension (high blood pressure)”. Said Dr. Eduardo Pimenta of Dante Pazanese Institue of Cardiology, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Pimenta with his group made a research on the effects of “restricted-salt diet” in a 24-hour readings that was taken through a recorder that was continuously worn by their subjects,in 13 adults who has ‘treatment-resistant hypertension’

The study was made in 7 days, “we were expecting blood pressure reduction with low-salt diet but the reduction was larger than we expected” Said Pimenta.

It was confirmed in the said studies that diet with higher salt can cause bigger problems in the blood vessels and fluid retention in people although they’re in diuretic therapy, said Pimenta

In the low-salt diet, it was shown that there was an obvious reduction in the body fluids of the subjects. Int his research, experts clearly shown the destructive effects of too much salt in our body and the the good benefits of low salt intake.

Brain exercise or mind exercise, what do we get from it? Last time, i gave you the foods that will help you increase your memory. Now, I’m here to share to you on how you can help your brain. Don’t forget that not only our body needs exercise, our mind as well.

When i was in high school(third year to be exact) My math teacher never forgets to give us some mind exercise before we start our class. I hate it at first, but as weeks passed by. Me and my classmates began to enjoy it. Mind exercise not only helps you in your memory but it also helps in retaining mental capacity. It helps us to stay sharp as we age. And you never know it might also help to prevent age-related mental or memory problem such as dementia.

Here are some mind exercises that you can do anywhere.

Try to switch your wrist watch to your other arm, for example your watch is always on your right arm. Wear it on your left arm for a change. The next time you check the time. You might still be looking on your right arm.
Recite the alphabet backwards.
Try to remember the lyrics of an old song
play sudoku
Look at your enemies point of view. Ask yourself and answer.
Name all the movies you hate/like/
If your driving try to explore new ways.
Memorize your credit card number.

There are still so many ways to exercise our mind. So the next time you found yourself in a traffic. Stay cool and exercise your mind.

A lot of people may know wheat grass as just a grass that makes your front lawn looks pretty neat. And cows, goats and horse’s daily meal.

Wheat grass is a type of grass that is rich and high in vitamins and minerals, but of course it still a grass. So for some people, they may find these unpleasant to eat or drink. But let me show you what really caught my attention, Producers of wheat grass said that There’s a lot of ways to take wheat grass. But you can try to put some in a juicer so you can take the juice from it and drink it from a shot glass. They say that even the pulp has benefits too.(you can use it as a facial scrub.) They claim that one shot glass of wheat grass is equal to 1 kilo of green leafy vegetables. If this is true then I’d better get one of these.

Tea a Health Treat

Tea. Whether it’s green tea, black tea, white tea, red tea, name it i like it. I got this habit of drinking all sorts of health drinks, fruit juices, coffee, tea, milk etc. from my grand father. I admire him for having a healthy body and maintain it for such a long time. Even if he already passed away. He left our world not young. But very old and wise.

There are so many benefits of tea. but when is the best time to take it? My grandpa used to tell me that the best time to take tea is in the morning. It will help you boost your metabolism. It will also help you to feel better when your sick.

I still think that you can drink tea anytime you want but it depends on what type of tea you drink, Most green teas has caffeine, so if you’ll love this type and like to drink a lot in the evening, you may want to drink less in the evening. but i think it would be ok to drink tea anytime of the day. If the tea is decaf then maybe a cup or two in the middle of night won’t hurt your eyes. but if you love sweetened tea, A cup in the morning may be good for you but not too much at night.

So for all those who are not sure what time to drink tea, You may want to check what type of tea are you drinking and you can adjust from there. And you can host your own tea party. Have a great tea time!

Have you ever thought of being taller? A lot of my friends would love to be taller. Lucky for me I’m tall enough for my age….. i guess. There are ways to be taller, There are operations that will help you to add more height.

A good example is The Fitbone technology.

milk is high in calcium, Vitamin b and protein, Enough sleep is also needed because this will increase growth hormone to make them taller. It’s really our choice to make our children and ourselves taller naturally or not.

I just eat another chocolate!

Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. Who wouldn’t want it? a lot of people just can’t resist even the smell of it. I am one of those people who is guilty of this but, i just got this news about how a simple brisk walk could reduce chocolate cravings.

Most of us know the benefits of different exercises and how it help people to manage their lifestyle especially those smokers and those who’ve been to different drugs. The researchers now has shown that this concept may be true for different food cravings.

In London, Researchers held a study for three days of abstinence, They asked 25 people who are chocolate fanatics to have a 15- minute of brisk walk or rest. A professor in Exeter University, Adrian Taylor tells that they were having a study how physical activities reduces cigarette cravings and this study is the first one that has linked exercise to lessen your chocolate cravings.

They all engaged those chocolate lovers to tasks that would normally induce their chocolate cravings. All participants who exercise showed a much lower chocolate cravings compared to those who just rest.

And guess what ladies this study showed that 97% of women experienced those cravings compared to men whose only 68%. Chocolate has active constituents that enhance our moods, that’s why it may help us to relax, especially when were stressed. But eating chocolate might turn into habit. So you may want to take a brisk walk before you grab a chocolate.
